The British Afternoon Tea Etiquette Experience takes place in the Palm Court at The Ritz London, providing an opportunity to experience one of Britain’s most cherished traditions while learning the etiquette and customs surrounding afternoon tea.
The experience combines historical context with practical guidance, covering the origins and traditions of afternoon tea alongside the etiquette of enjoying it with confidence and ease.
You will learn how afternoon tea developed in Britain, from the influence of Catherine of Braganza to the Duchess of Bedford, and how the customs associated with it have evolved over time.
During the experience, you will enjoy a traditional afternoon tea of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and preserves, and a selection of fine loose-leaf teas.
Set within the Palm Court, with its elegant surroundings and resident pianist, The Ritz provides a fitting setting in which to explore the history, traditions and etiquette of this quintessentially British occasion.

The British Afternoon Tea Etiquette Experience takes place in the Palm Court at The Ritz London, one of the capital’s most celebrated settings for afternoon tea.
Located in the heart of St James's, the Palm Court is known for its elegant interiors, ornate details and traditional afternoon tea service. With its fine china, silver service and resident pianist, it provides a fitting setting in which to explore the customs and etiquette surrounding this quintessentially British tradition.
The Ritz is conveniently located on Piccadilly, within walking distance of Green Park and Piccadilly Circus Underground Stations.
Tea will commence at 3.30 PM and conclude at 5.30 PM.

The Afternoon Tea Etiquette Experience is suitable for individuals, couples, friends and families who would like to learn more about the traditions and etiquette surrounding afternoon tea.
It is particularly suited to international visitors who wish to experience this quintessentially British tradition and understand the customs surrounding it, as well as British guests who would like to refine their afternoon tea etiquette or deepen their understanding of this much-loved social occasion.
Children are welcome to attend with an accompanying adult, making the experience an enjoyable way for families to share a traditional afternoon tea while learning the etiquette and customs associated with it.

Absolutely. Emma encourages questions throughout the experience and will provide individual guidance and clarification throughout.
