Course SCHEDULE

The Season Etiquette Course begins at 2 PM. There will be a fifteen-minute break in both the morning and afternoon, with refreshments available throughout the session.

The course concludes at circa. 5 PM.

THE SEASON AND ITS SOCIAL FOUNDATIONS

An exploration of the origins and evolution of the British social season, including its historical role in English society and the expectations placed upon presentation, conduct, and belonging.

This module examines the emergence of the debutante tradition, the influence of court presentation, and the lasting impact of the Industrial Revolution on class structures and social access.

Attention is also given to the distinction between the traditional “Old Season” and the modern “New Season”, and how today’s calendar of events continues to reflect long-established social patterns.
